Role Overview:
The Certified Respiratory Care Specialist is responsible for assessing lung function and analyzing blood samples utilizing a blood gas analyzer.
May provide tobacco cessation education, bedside pulmonary function tests, electrocardiograms, and other procedures as directed by the healthcare provider.
Administers and evaluates the effectiveness of prescribed therapies in accordance with the care plan. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient conditions as necessary.
Reviews respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
Responds to emergency codes and calls for urgent assistance. Evaluates patient conditions and administers appropriate treatments.
Educates patients and their families about respiratory conditions and provides information regarding community support resources.
Manages the inventory of respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.
Maintains organized storage areas with adequate supply levels and equipment.
Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, performing preventative maintenance and calibration as required.

Qualifications:
Must possess a valid Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care License.
Graduation from a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) program is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Additional Information:
This facility is an 80-bed acute care hospital.
Shifts are scheduled from 7 PM to 7 AM, with weekend rotations required.
The compensation range is $24 to $36 per hour, commensurate with experience. An excellent benefits package is offered, along with potential relocation and sign-on bonuses.
