Type: Contract (1-year renewable)
Key Responsibilities
Engage in the advancement of innovative methodologies, assess quality, and offer expertise on the appropriate utilization of cytology specimens along with the analysis of slides derived from these specimens. Compare methodologies and outcomes with Pap testing, and conduct reviews of slide staining processes. Collaborate with Pathologists and contribute to Quality Control (QC) method development for cytology specimens to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct analytical procedures on specimens sourced from various origins, including cervical swabs, sputum, urine, other bodily fluids, and fine needle aspirates.
- Assess incoming samples for testing eligibility.
- Evaluate immunocytochemistry (ICC) biomarkers for proof of concept, feasibility, and validation studies related to new product development.
- Implement and assess cytology techniques such as Pap staining, providing findings to project scientists.
- Maintain necessary documentation.
- Propose enhancements to improve operational processes.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and execute corrective measures for any reagent or instrument-related challenges encountered during sample processing.
- Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences or a related discipline. REQUIRED
- Completion of a CAAHEP accredited cytotechnology training program. REQUIRED
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in Cytology, encompassing cytology techniques and methodologies. REQUIRED
- Experience in a laboratory environment. REQUIRED
- Gynecological experience is preferred.
