Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Healthcare Documentation Specialist I to join our team at Tucson Medical Center. As a key member of our healthcare documentation team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of specialized medical language transcription for Pathology, Cytology, Histology, and Autopsy records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transcribe, edit, or audit healthcare documentation produced in a variety of formats in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Utilize knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to ensure accurate transcription.
  • Manage morgue book daily, ensuring paperwork is complete and accurate for each decedent.
  • Follow up with family or authorized party to release decedents timely.
  • Provide support and assist pathologists as requested.
  • Manage face sheets for billing purposes, coordinate and complete outside consultant requests.
  • Prepare various tumor board information each week and assist with legal preservation.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Associate's degree in a related field and/or vocational/technical healthcare documentation/transcription training preferred.
  • Three (3) years of related healthcare documentation transcription experience in an acute care setting preferred.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position working in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
