Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN)

The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Highpoint Health Sumner, a Level III Trauma Center, is dedicated to delivering immediate postoperative care for patients recovering from anesthesia.

The PACU plays a crucial role in managing patients post-surgery, ensuring they are stabilized and closely monitored before being transferred to the appropriate care unit or discharged.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement care plans, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical interventions.

Document patient care provided.

Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions as necessary to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.

Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, nutrition, and mobility.

Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and addressing spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Assess learning needs of patients and/or families and provide education tailored to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.

Deliver patient care in accordance with applicable standards and practices in other nursing units as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates must possess a current State of Tennessee or Multi-State Registered Nurse licensure and hold an Associate's or Bachelor's degree or RN Diploma in Nursing.

Required Certifications

BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Must be current upon hire

ACLS and PALS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required within 6 months of employment if not current upon hire

Minimum Work Experience:

1 year of nursing experience in Surgical, Medical/Surgical, or PACU - Preferred

1 year of Critical Care nursing experience - Preferred
