Battery Transportation Specialist (Truck Driver)

Carolina Industrial Products is looking for a dedicated full-time Battery Transportation Specialist. In this role, you will be tasked with operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle while adhering to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, along with company policies and procedures. The starting salary for this position is $45K - $55K based on experience. A CDL license is advantageous but not mandatory. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Must meet and maintain Department of Transportation physical requirements and possess a Class A CDL license.
  2. Stay informed and compliant with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations.
  3. Conduct required DOT safety inspections on vehicles and loads prior to deliveries or pickups.
  4. Maintain an electronic daily log in accordance with DOT regulations.
  5. Execute pickups and deliveries of batteries, chargers, and other cargo between branches and to customers, verifying loads by serial numbers.
  6. Assist customers with loading, unloading, and equipment operation.
  7. Ensure safety, proper operation, and secure loading of equipment and cargo at all times, including adherence to dock procedures.
  8. Guarantee quality, cleanliness, and accuracy of customer equipment deliveries.
  9. Obtain appropriate customer signatures for all contracts and delivery documentation.
  10. Promptly report any delays or irregularities affecting scheduled deliveries or returns to the PRC Manager.
  11. Inspect and document any damaged or missing cargo upon return; review with the customer and obtain signatures as necessary.
  12. Ensure that the truck and all equipment are well-maintained, in good working order, and present a professional appearance at all times.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Perform minor non-technical repairs and adjustments to batteries and chargers as needed.
  2. Make charger adjustments such as connectors, fuses, line voltage, etc.
  3. Provide information to customers or CIP employees regarding any issues observed during delivery or pickup.
  4. Carry out other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Ability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships.
  3. Excellent communication, telephone, and customer service skills.
  4. Basic technical skills, including proficiency with e-logs and an iPad.
  5. Basic understanding of material handling equipment operation.
  6. Knowledge and familiarity with DOT regulations.
