Job Summary

Darling Ingredients Inc. is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining our company fleet to meet DOT standards and ensure dependable operation on public highways.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled service on all vehicles, including preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential issues and address them promptly.
  • Perform major repairs to equipment, including engine, rear end, clutch, brake overhauls, transmission, and hydraulic system overhauls.
  • Perform minor repairs, such as cutting, welding, changing tires, and replacing lights.
  • Repair electrical systems on vehicles and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Record repairs and enter them into the SAP system for tracking.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant mechanical experience.
  • Strong mechanical abilities relative to fleet maintenance.
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication, cutting, and welding.
  • Own tools and high competence on all truck/trailer systems.

Working Environment:

  • Typical truck shop environment with high noise levels and indoor/outdoor settings.
  • Must be willing to work all shifts, including overtime and weekends as needed.
