Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Low Voltage Technician to join our team at Compass Group Careers. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining low-voltage security cable, equipment, components, and devices associated with Access Control, Video/CCTV, IP Cameras, Fiber, Security, and Voice/Data Systems.

Responsibilities
  • Servicing, testing, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining low-voltage security cable, equipment, components, and devices
  • Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools
  • Installing and mounting electronic devices, panels, sensors, and components
  • Using an Electronic (FLUKE) multi-meter to find open circuits, short circuits, and ground faulted circuits in networking or other field wiring
  • Having a working knowledge of class 2 cabling as it pertains to NFPA 72, BICSI, and other relevant codes established and governing the installation of low-voltage systems
  • Analyzing blueprints, schematics, and drawings of fire alarm and/or other related electrical system for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems
  • Inspecting electrical/security systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating conditions, identifying necessary repairs, and recommending preventative maintenance
  • Reviewing all work orders assigned and providing daily updates to scheduling coordinators and customers
  • Communicating all work prior to starting, as well as work completed to the customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site
  • Demonstrating a strong sense of urgency in completing all assigned work orders
  • Inspecting customer sites and reviewing work orders, blueprints/plans, and installation manuals to determine material requirements and installation procedures to provide customer solutions
Qualifications
  • At least 3+ years of experience installing voice and data systems is preferred
  • Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA, or NEC Standards is a plus
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and provide two professional references
  • Reliable vehicle and valid driver's license
  • Must adhere to OSHA safety standards
  • Must be able to see colors/knowledge of color codes
  • A well-developed knowledge of common low-voltage technology
