Advanced Practice Nurse

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Advanced Practice Nurse to join our team at Long Island Community Hospital. As a valued member of our healthcare community, you will have the opportunity to provide exceptional patient care and work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and reassessing patients, ordering and interpreting tests/results, and formulating diagnoses. They will also develop and implement patient care and treatment plans, discuss patient care and treatment plans with physicians and other hospital staff, and obtain consents for blood/blood product transfusion, CAT scan and MRI contrast administration, and for procedures performed by the PA.
Responsibilities
- Assessment and Reassessment of Patients
- Orders and interprets tests/results (lab, radiology, ekg, etc.) based on patient need
- Orders medications and treatments
- Documents care in the chart in accordance with hospital policies and procedures
- Formulates diagnoses
- Formulates and implements patient care and treatment plans
- Initiates consults with physicians and other hospital staff including those for hospice and palliative care
- Manages medical/surgical patient care including emergencies requiring BLS/ACLS/PALS (if adult or family NP)
- Rounds with physicians and other hospital staff
- Orders, applies, reapplies, and removes restraints
Requirements
- Graduate of NP educational program approved by the State of New York
- Current NP certification from either the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or the American Nurses Credentialing Center
- Bachelors and Masters degrees
- Current New York State license as registered nurse and NP
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Current Advanced Life Support (ACLS)
- Current Pediatric Life Support (PALS)
- Current Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
- Current National Institute of Health stroke scale (NIHSS) training certification
- Current New York State prescription privilege
- Current DEA number
- Current New York State Infection Control training certification
- Completed Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) on-line training
- Current certification by American Vascular Association (AVA)
- Current member of American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
- Current member of Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State (NPA)

$67.27-$89.61 hourly
