Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse (18) in Cardiac Cath Lab - Part Time, Days 07:00 AM - 07:30 PM with on-call coverage.

The successful candidate will execute professional nursing care in accordance with physician treatment plans to provide comfort and well-being for patients and their families.

In this role, you will assess patients' needs, plan and implement treatment plans, observe and evaluate progress, and document pertinent observations.

You will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary health team to meet holistic needs and direct the delivery of nursing care by other team members.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collections of patient health data through involvement with patients, family, and other healthcare providers.
  • Initial assessments based on patient presentations.
  • Records relevant data on the nursing component of the Interdisciplinary Admission Assessment.
  • Awareness of special needs for each age group or culture served and those with disabilities.
  • Ongoing assessments as established by department policy and warranted by the patient's response.
  • Incorporation of discharge planning into the admission process.
  • Analyzing assessment data to determine problem identification, expected outcomes individualized to the patient, and ability to combine theoretical knowledge and clinical expertise.
  • Evaluation of assessment data, actual or potential problems validated with the patient, family, and other healthcare providers.
  • Identification of cultural, ethnic, and spiritual aspects of patient/family dynamics related to care.
  • Recognition of patient comfort/pain management needs impacting the plan of care and desired outcome.
  • Identifying actual or potential knowledge deficits for the patient and/or family.
  • Communicating expected outcomes to the patient, family, and other healthcare providers for continuity of care.
  • Development of a plan of care prescribing interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Collaboration with the patient, family, and appropriate healthcare providers in developing the plan of care.
  • Formulation of a family-centered plan of care consistent with the assessment of the patient's needs and physician's treatment plan.
  • Incorporation of teaching and learning principles in the plan of care based on identified learning needs and developmental level.
  • Assistance to the patient and family in identifying and securing services addressing health-related needs.
  • Communication of the plan of care to the patient, family, and other healthcare providers for continuity of care.
  • Documentation of the initial plan of care and updates as required.
  • Establishment of realistic goals, setting priorities, and using time efficiently.
  • Implementation of the plan of care for each patient, performing appropriate patient monitoring.
  • Adaptation of nursing procedures to meet the needs of the individual patient.
  • Education provided to the patient and family utilizing the educational assessment.
  • Recognition of hazards to patient safety and taking action to maintain a safe environment.
  • Collaboration with other team members to implement interventions.
  • Assignment or delegation of tasks as defined by the state nurse practice act and according to the knowledge and skills of the caregiver.
  • Demonstrated knowledge regarding drug administration, incompatibilities, contraindications, and adverse effects.
  • Compliance with medication policy and procedure for order transcription/verification, drug administration, and documentation.
  • Evaluation of the patient's progress toward attainment of outcomes.
  • Documentation of the patient's response to interventions and revisions to the plan of care.
  • Ongoing assessment data used to revise expected outcomes and the patient plan of care as needed.
  • Identification of barriers to achieving desired patient/family outcomes and utilization of resources to diminish negative impact.
  • Communication with and inclusion of the patient, family, and other healthcare providers in the evaluation process.
  • Care that demonstrates ethical beliefs and respect for patients' rights.
  • Demonstration of participation in activities supporting customer satisfaction.
  • Participation in the evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices and support for measures to improve practice.
  • Demonstration of effective interactions with staff on the unit and in other departments.
  • Interaction with and contribution to the professional development of peers and other healthcare providers.
  • Action as a facilitator when dealing with other staff members regarding issues concerning patient care and/or functioning on the unit.
  • Seeking out and utilizing the Nurse Manager or Nursing Administrative Supervisor to address issues requiring assistance to resolve.
  • Acknowledgment of feedback from peers and management for improved patient care and/or unit functioning.
  • Engagement in performance appraisal identifying areas of strength and areas where professional development would be beneficial.
  • Collaboration with management to improve the environment of care for patients, families, and personnel.
  • Demonstration of working knowledge of principles, policies, and procedures specific to the assigned nursing service.
  • Maintenance of knowledge base through participation in learning situations such as departmental meetings, educational programs, professional association membership, journal review, or committee participation.
  • Compliance with staff meeting attendance requirements.

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:

On-call required.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify, you must have a Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through completion of a two-year training at an accredited School of Nursing.

Current New York State license or Permit as a Registered Professional Nurse.

Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients and their families demonstrating recognition of cultural diversity.

Practice reflects customer service excellence.

Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written format.

Analytical ability to assess and develop solutions to clinical situations or unit problems.

Maintenance of knowledge and proficiency in the clinical area and age group served.

BLS certification and de-escalation training.

ACLS (ICU, Float pool).

Ability to frequently lift/carry more than 75 lbs.

Ability to frequently push/pull more than 100 lbs.

Ability to frequently bend, squat, kneel, climb steps/ladder, and reach above shoulders.

Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS.

Preferred Qualifications: Cardiac Cath / EP experience.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Salary Information:

The estimated salary range for this position is $52.05-$65.00 hourly.

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
