About the Role:

The State of Iowa is seeking a Correctional Officer to join our team at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center (IMCC). As a Correctional Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining safety and security within the prison population and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide safety and security to the prison population and staff
  • Participate in evidence-based practices to reduce victimization, recidivism, and enhance community safety
  • Embed practices and policies supported by research to drive system-wide change
  • Collaborate with other state agencies and community partners to achieve strategic priorities
  • Ensure the implementation of continuous quality improvement initiatives

Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school, GED, or equivalency
  • Ability to pass psychological tests, background investigation check, post-offer health screen, urinalysis screen, and new employee training
  • Designated positions require a Commercial Driver's License and endorsements
