Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team as a Serology Technician at Labcorp. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing routine and complex technical procedures, monitoring and operating instrumentation, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of test results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Specimen Acceptance: Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Technical Procedures: Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Instrumentation: Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Quality Control: Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Test Results: Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
  • Maintenance: Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Supply Management: Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Support Functions: Assist with processing of micro specimens when needed.
  • Work Environment: Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Requirements:

  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
  • Licensure: Florida State Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) license.
  • Certification: ASCP, AMT, or ABB certification (must also be able to pass a standardized color vision screening).
  • Skills: The ability to work independently and within a team environment, a high level of attention to detail, strong communication and organizational skills.
