JOB TITLE: Educational Support Specialist for Kindergarten
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Educational Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting classroom educators and other instructional staff in delivering effective learning experiences. This position involves monitoring student engagement and academic performance through data collection and record-keeping.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of an Associate's degree, OR completion of 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours at an accredited institution, OR proven competency in supporting instruction in literacy, numeracy, and other core subjects as validated by a state or locally approved assessment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive student and staff information.
- Physical capability to engage in various activities including walking, standing, bending, and reaching.
- Dedication to fostering a supportive learning environment for all students - assisting individuals or small groups to reinforce educational concepts.
- Openness to participating in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
- Consistent and reliable attendance is vital.
- Exhibits adaptability and responsiveness to changing classroom dynamics.
- Skilled in working with diverse populations and managing situations with professionalism and tact.
- Expected to engage positively with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Possesses the physical stamina and dexterity necessary for a full day of varied activities.
Reports to: Principal
Work Schedule: 7 hours per day, Monday through Friday, 10 Month, Non-Exempt
Compensation: Salary determined in accordance with established agreements or board-approved salary structures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning objectives initially introduced by certified educators.
- Models appropriate conduct and behaviors for students.
- Establishes and maintains a professional relationship with classroom teachers and staff.
- Assists with student supervision during arrival and dismissal times.
- Supports the monitoring of students during lunch and recess periods.
- Assists educators with grading and reviewing assignments as directed.
- Helps in tracking, collecting data, and maintaining records regarding student academic progress.
- Performs routine classroom management and maintenance tasks.

- Organizes and retrieves educational materials and schedules in accordance with established guidelines.
- Utilizes technology to assist students with educational software and tools.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
