Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Head Start Teacher to join our team at Hillsborough County. As an Early Head Start Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality educational and enrichment activities for infants and toddlers in our Early Head Start Program.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and implement daily lesson plans that meet federal performance standards and promote educational and enrichment activities for infants and toddlers.
  • Screen and assess infant and toddler-aged children to determine developmental and educational needs and develop individual education plans that comply with federal performance standards.
  • Monitor meal and snack periods, classroom and restroom activities for toddlers, and playground activities to ensure a safe environment for infants and toddlers.
  • Document children's progress and complete all required manual and computerized forms and reports in accordance with federal requirements.
  • Communicate with parents through parent conferences, written correspondence, telephone, and home visits to apprise them of their child's progress, upcoming events, and individual education plan changes.
Requirements
  • Associate or higher degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • One year of experience in teaching Head Start, Early Head Start, or Pre-School children.
  • Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or completion of the CDA credential program within 2 years of hire.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and provide physical assistance in the transportation of special needs children.

The Early Head Start Teacher will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, interacting with children, parents, and staff on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate effectively with diverse groups, and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
