Job Summary

Denver Health is seeking a highly skilled Trauma Surgeon to join our team. As a member of our surgical faculty, you will be responsible for attending on trauma service weeks, SICU weeks, and EGS service weeks, as well as participating in in-house, weeknight, and weekend trauma/ICU/EGS surgery call. You will also have the opportunity to engage in elective general surgery practice, including elective clinics, operating room blocks, outreach, and program development, as well as inpatient general surgery consultations.

As a faculty member of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, you will serve as a teacher for students seeking clinical experience at Denver Health and provide education for postgraduate medical trainees. You will also have the opportunity to focus on superior patient care by practicing evidence-based, high-quality state-of-the-art medicine, encouraging increased patient understanding, involvement in care, and treatment decisions, achieving and maintaining optimal patient access, and insisting on departmental focus on superior patient service.

Collaboration is key in this role, and you will work closely with staff, other physicians, and management to improve service and patient care. You will also be responsible for listening and communicating effectively, providing clinical information in a clear and timely manner, requesting information and resources needed to provide care consistent with Denver Health goals, and providing and accepting feedback in a respectful manner from all staff.

Quality metrics are also a focus in this role, and you will work to focus on clinically relevant outcome measures, change by embracing innovations to continuously improve patient care, service, and organizational efficiency. You will also abide by the Medical Staff bylaws and conduct yourself in a professional and collegial manner in all aspects of work.

Education and experience requirements include graduation from an accredited medical school and completion of accredited residency programs and fellowships for specialists, or equivalent. Board certification or board eligibility in general surgery and surgical critical care is also required. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques, thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, and ability to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
