Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of salaried employees, including performance reviews, corrective action, and goal setting.
  • Provide detailed instructions to team members via email and phone.
  • Act as the first point of contact for customer inquiries.
  • Assist in new customer implementations and prioritize time-sensitive situations.
  • Work with the team to schedule deliveries and provide excellent customer service.
  • Ensure customer KPIs are met on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Track shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Handle rate negotiations with carriers on a spot rate basis.
  • Analyze process data and work on continuous improvements.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities for the customer.
  • Ensure all business needs are covered, including vacations, illness, etc.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience in the logistics/supply chain industry.
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role.
  • JDA Transportation Management System experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize time-sensitive situations.
  • Advanced desktop computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn and operate various computer systems across different platforms.
  • Ability to lead and develop a team of salaried associates.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with customers and Penske personnel.
  • Team player with flexibility in working different shifts.
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
