Job Title: Registered Dental HygienistJob Summary

Community Action Corporation of South Texas is seeking a highly skilled Registered Dental Hygienist to join our team. As a key member of our dental care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and promoting oral health in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct Dental Exams and Cleanings: Review patients' health history, dental charting, and oral analysis to determine the best course of treatment. Provide thorough cleanings, including above and below the gum line, and apply cavity-preventive agents as needed.
  2. Expose and Interpret Dental X-Rays: Take and develop dental x-rays to diagnose and monitor oral health issues.
  3. Provide Periodontal Treatment: Offer non-surgical treatment for periodontal disease, including applying therapeutic agents and teaching patients proper oral hygiene techniques.
  4. Counsel Patients: Educate patients on the importance of good nutrition for maintaining optimal oral health and provide individualized at-home oral hygiene programs.
  5. Administer Local Anesthesia: Provide local anesthesia as needed for patient comfort.
Requirements
  • Education and Licensure: Associate's degree in dental hygiene from an accredited institution and licensure by the State of Texas.
  • Work Experience: Employment in a medical office or public health clinic.
  • Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of primary dental care, public health principles, and excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements

If a preliminary offer of employment is extended, a physical examination will be required before the offer can be accepted.
