Job Summary

Uncommon Schools North Star Academy is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Instructional Support Specialist to join our team. As an Instructional Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting teachers with instruction, assessments, grading, and other classroom responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Teachers: Provide instructional support to teachers, including lesson planning, instructional delivery, and assessment.
  • Teach Small Groups: Teach small groups of students, as needed, to support their academic growth and development.
  • Student Support: Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring daily, as well as small group intervention and student support.
  • Observation and Feedback: Observe Master Teachers to improve instructional techniques and classroom management, and provide feedback to support teacher growth.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support, including but not limited to, copies, hallway duty, organizing classroom materials, and other tasks as needed.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Participate in grade-level activities, school-wide functions, events, and trips; provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior; serve as an advisor to a small group of students; supervise students during transitions, breakfast, lunch, and afterschool; and communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with students in a classroom or educational setting preferred.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and families; and ability to provide instructional support and guidance to students.
