Job Summary:The Water Treatment Plant Operator Trainee will assist in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plant facilities, under the supervision of the Chief Plant Operator and/or Superintendent. This role requires a strong understanding of water treatment processes, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plant facilities
- Monitor and control chlorination, fluoridation, pH control, flocculation, sedimentation, and filtration systems
- Operate associated treatment plant equipment, including pumps, valves, blowers, and filtration systems
- Perform routine laboratory tests to determine process control needs
- Compile and prepare reports for submission as mandated
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings, and grounds
- Investigate customer complaints and concerns, and aid in timely response and resolution
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Valid automobile operator's license
- Ability to obtain a temporary class 4 water treatment certificate within 6 months of employment
- Ability to satisfy 50% of level 1 PLPR requirements within 6 months of hire
- Ability to attain PLPR level 2 requirements within 2 years of employment
