**Operations Director - Waste Management Facility
Employment Solutions is seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Director to oversee the daily operations of our medical waste treatment facility. As a key leader in our company, you will be responsible for directing, supporting, and managing all plant activities to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient production. **
The Operations Director will lead a team of approximately 15 employees while maintaining a high standard of customer satisfaction, meeting company goals, and promoting a positive, growth-oriented work culture.
Your duties will include both hands-on management of plant operations as well as administrative tasks such as scheduling, budgeting, and communication with internal stakeholders and customers. This is a 90% hands-on, 10% administrative role, and the ideal candidate will be a proven team builder with strong leadership, decision-making, and organizational skills.
**Key Responsibilities:**
Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of 15 employees. Provide mentorship, training, and support to help team members grow their knowledge and skills within the organization. Build a positive, collaborative culture that promotes teamwork and excellence.
Operations Management: Oversee and organize daily plant operations, ensuring all production activities run smoothly and safely. Schedule work activities to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
Customer Relations: Maintain direct communication with customers through meetings, phone calls, and emails to ensure their needs are met and to resolve any operational issues. Strive to exceed customer expectations and maintain a high level of satisfaction.
Staffing & Recruitment: Interview, hire, and onboard new team members. Ensure staffing levels are appropriate to meet production needs, and assist in developing team member skills to support career growth.
Budgeting & Financial Oversight: Manage the plant's budget, make recommendations for cost savings and efficiency improvements, and approve purchases of necessary equipment, materials, and supplies. Make financial recommendations to improve profitability.
Administrative Duties: Use computer systems (primarily MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) to manage communication, documentation, and reporting. Ensure all paperwork and operational records are accurate and up to date.
Problem Solving & Decision Making: Make complex, time-sensitive decisions to resolve operational issues, maintain production timelines, and improve processes. Use strong analytical skills to identify challenges and implement solutions.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure that all safety protocols are adhered to and that the plant complies with all relevant regulatory guidelines related to medical waste handling. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Equipment Proficiency: Ensure proficiency with medical equipment and tools to support plant operations. Troubleshoot and resolve any operational or mechanical issues in collaboration with other team members.
Oversee Production Goals: Monitor plant performance and operational KPIs. Continuously work toward improving productivity and plant efficiency.
**Requirements:**
Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of management experience in a relevant field, with at least 3 years of experience in medical waste operations (or related field).
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to build, lead, and motivate teams. Must be able to provide clear direction, offer feedback, and encourage growth among team members.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective team management and customer relations.
Customer Service: Must have excellent interpersonal skills to maintain strong customer relationships and resolve issues in a professional manner.
Computer Proficiency: Must be comfortable using MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and able to manage basic administrative tasks and reporting.
Decision-Making: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make complex decisions quickly and independently.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and work in a medical waste environment.
Driver's License: Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record to operate a company vehicle for business purposes.
Safety & Compliance: Must be comfortable working around medical waste and in environments that may be unsavory. Commitment to safety and compliance with all relevant regulations is essential.
**Estimated Salary:** $72,000 - $87,000/year (depending on experience and qualifications).
