Pharmacy Operations Supervisor

In this role, the pharmacist plays a vital part in the collaborative healthcare team within a dynamic ambulatory care and community pharmacy environment. Whole Family Health Center relies on the pharmacist to provide empathetic, high-quality, and cost-efficient pharmaceutical care in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. Our facilities offer a diverse array of services, including pediatrics, family medicine, HIV treatment, behavioral health, research initiatives, community outreach, and pharmacy services. All responsibilities outlined are essential functions and may be adjusted to accommodate individuals with disabilities. This position carries a significant level of trust.

Communication Skills

Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities are essential for this role. The candidate must communicate professionally, effectively, and courteously with both patients and colleagues. The ability to convey scientific information to both technical and non-technical audiences is necessary. Proficiency in Spanish, Creole, or both is an added advantage.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Ensure compliance with pharmacy board regulations, state, and federal laws, overseeing that all pharmacy staff adhere to these standards. Assist in conducting internal audits, maintaining accurate records, and supervising support staff.
  2. Drive overall compliance and business performance of the pharmacy, focusing on operations, quality, clinical outcomes, and growth.
  3. Enhance staff's pharmacological knowledge by engaging in clinical programs and providing drug information to team members, interns, and healthcare professionals.
  4. Execute pharmacist duties including compounding, medication therapy reviews, verification, and management of prescriptions. Review, interpret, and accurately dispense prescribed medications.
  5. Exemplify and promote customer service best practices. Support the pharmacy manager in customer service initiatives aimed at continuously enhancing quality and patient care. Address customer complaints effectively.
  6. Monitor drug therapies, advising healthcare providers on potential interactions and contraindications.
  7. Assist patients facing medication adherence challenges due to financial or other life circumstances.
  8. Maintain current licensure and strive to advance the practice of evidence-based medicine by staying informed about new medications, devices, and medical literature.
  9. Foster teamwork and lead the pharmacy team in achieving the mission and goals of WFHC.
  10. Safeguard patients and colleagues by adhering to infection control protocols.
  11. Contribute to the development and revision of pharmacy policies and procedures.
  12. Ensure a safe and clean working environment by following established procedures, rules, and regulations.
  13. Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning by attending professional meetings, regularly reviewing medical literature, building personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  14. Conduct analyses, quality improvement initiatives, and special projects related to the 340B Drug Program.
  15. Assist in developing monitoring protocols and effective internal controls for the 340B Drug Program.
  16. Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team to connect patients with available medical and patient care resources at WFHC.
  17. Effectively prioritize dispensing and clinical responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  18. May require occasional travel between clinic locations for coverage.

Education & Qualifications

  • Pharm D degree is highly preferred; a bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement.
  • Current Florida Pharmacist licensure, certified to administer immunizations, in good standing, or the ability to obtain Florida Pharmacy License within a specified timeframe if licensed in another state.
  • Preferred certifications include Certified HIV Pharmacist (AAHIVP), Medication Therapy Management (CMTM), or 340B Apexus Certified Expert (340B ACE).

Experience

  • Prior experience as a pharmacy manager in a retail pharmacy or community health center is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with the 340B drug program are preferred.
  • Experience in Infectious Disease and/or HIV Medicine is preferred.

Requirements

  • Level 2 background clearance is required.
  • All necessary vaccinations must be completed, and a PPD Test is conducted upon hiring.
