Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Short Notice Cook to join our team at Colville Tribes. As a key member of our culinary team, you will assist the senior center head cook with meal planning, preparation, and serving of nutritionally balanced meals to seniors in a congregate setting and delivered to clients at their homes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with menu planning, food purchases, and maintaining sanitary conditions at the senior center.
  • Prepare and serve meals to seniors in a congregate setting and delivered to clients at their homes.
  • Work independently and follow line of authority.
  • Establish and maintain effective/cooperative working relationships with others (peers, clients, public, etc.).

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma/Equivalent, GED, or willing to obtain one within a specified period of time.
  • Requires two years successful paid work experience with elderly/senior citizens.
  • Requires physical fitness clearance by medical doctor's examination and must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Food Handlers permit, First Aid, and CPR card within the 90-day probationary period.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of food preparation and serving a variety of food in quantity amounts.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Ability to work from written menus/recipes and adapt standard recipes to preparing dishes for varying numbers of people.
  • Ability to prepare meals for special diets.
  • Ability to operate and maintain standard cooking appliances/equipment.

Working Conditions

This is a non-exempt position that requires working in a fast-paced kitchen environment with frequent lifting, bending, and standing. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
