Job Summary:

The Respiratory Care Coordinator Asthma provides inpatient, outpatient, and community-based education and orientation for individuals in assigned areas of responsibility. This role requires a strong understanding of respiratory care and asthma education principles, as well as excellent communication and presentation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with the Nurse Manager, staff, patients, and families to assess learning needs and develop educational activities to meet those needs.

2. Plan and implement educational activities, utilizing adult and child education principles, to promote collaborative relationships among health care professionals and community agencies and schools.

3. Prioritize, coordinate, and implement care for assigned patients within scope of practice, utilizing appropriate resources.

4. Provide and assist with direct patient care, reflecting a family-centered approach, and participate in committees, task forces, meetings, and activities to assist in the development of educational programs.

5. Participate in activities that promote professional development and enhance the practice of respiratory care and asthma education, and facilitate compliance with mandatory educational requirements.

Requirements:

1. Graduate from an accredited school of respiratory care is required.

2. Professional Respiratory Therapist licensed in the state of Ohio is required.

3. Asthma Education-Certified (AE-C) is required within one year from date of hire.

4. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

5. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Working Conditions:

This is a PRN position, and the employee will be required to work on an as-needed basis.
