Key Responsibilities

  • Support the pharmacist in executing pharmacy functions in compliance with state and federal regulations. Assist with pharmacy operations in accordance with company policies.
  • Utilize pharmacy systems to manage patient and medication information effectively. Provide guidance to pharmacy technicians and cashiers in system usage and cash register operations.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, creating a welcoming environment for patients and customers.

Customer Engagement

  • Interact with customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Address customer inquiries to foster a positive experience.
  • Exemplify best practices in customer service and share insights with team members to enhance service delivery.
  • Establish strong relationships with key customers to improve service outcomes.

Operational Duties

  • Assist in pharmacy operations under the supervision of a pharmacist, ensuring compliance with all regulations. Uphold the pharmacy's code of conduct.
  • Execute tasks assigned by the Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist, including accurate data entry, prescription filling, and workflow management. Report any discrepancies promptly.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding prescription activities and maintain a high standard of accuracy.
  • Handle cash transactions and assist customers in locating products as needed.
  • Manage phone inquiries that do not require pharmacist intervention, including communication with healthcare providers.
  • Process claims for third-party prescription services and undertake administrative tasks as directed.
  • Oversee pharmacy inventory management, including ordering and receiving pharmaceutical supplies. Maintain knowledge of asset protection strategies.
  • Support pharmacists in delivering clinical services and coordinate with healthcare providers.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment.
  • Train pharmacy technicians and cashiers on efficient operational processes.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues and adhere to company policies.

Professional Development

  • Maintain certification through ongoing training and meet state requirements.
  • Participate in training sessions and stay informed about advancements in healthcare and pharmacy practices.

Basic Qualifications

  • Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a pharmacy technician in retail or hospital settings.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Walgreens is preferred.
  • Basic math skills and familiarity with computer systems.
  • Knowledge of inventory control processes is advantageous.
