Position Overview:

BHI Energy is seeking a skilled Project Manager to oversee the permitting operations for our construction projects, specifically focusing on Utility Scale Battery Energy Storage Systems. This role is crucial in ensuring that all necessary permits are obtained efficiently and effectively, facilitating the smooth progression of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and determine the necessary construction permit requirements for Utility Scale Battery Energy Storage initiatives.
  • Collaborate with team members and various governmental agencies (Federal, State, County, City, etc.) to manage schedules, deliverables, and the status of all permit applications.
  • Define and prepare engineering documentation to support the permit application process, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Review plans for correct revisions and permit specifications.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications to the appropriate authorities, acting as the primary liaison between BHI Energy and permitting agencies.
  • Maintain and update the status of permit applications within our document management system.
  • Work closely with clients to keep them informed on the status of permits and ensure timely processing.
  • Coordinate with engineers to address any deficiencies in plans and mitigate comments from permitting agencies.
  • Develop and maintain schedules for all permitting activities, coordinating with all stakeholders from initiation to approval.
  • Organize and schedule meetings and appointments as necessary.
  • Ensure all permitting documentation is accurately filed and maintained.
  • Support the closure of open permits upon project completion.
  • Travel to job sites and local permitting agency offices as required.

Qualifications:
  • A four-year college degree is required, preferably in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in permitting within a commercial or utility construction environment.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and plans related to Civil, Structural, Electrical, and Fire Detection designs.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Detail-oriented team player, comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a high volume of work.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong follow-up capabilities.
  • Able to manage multiple detail-oriented tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
