Role Overview
In the capacity of an Application Security Specialist, you will collaborate closely with the security leadership team. Your role will involve shaping organization-wide application security best practices, addressing complex security challenges, and engaging in technical discussions with software developers to resolve intricate security inquiries and gather new security requirements. You will serve as a mentor to engineering teams and security advocates, enhancing the overall security posture of Samsung Ads products.
Additionally, you will work alongside the Security Engineering manager to cultivate a proactive relationship with the HQ security team, based in Korea. This collaboration aims to align requirements and balance technical innovation for Samsung Ads with an industry-leading security framework.
Moreover, you will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the overall Application and Data Protection program and lead initiatives in cloud security technology, focusing on cloud application and data monitoring, reporting, and auditing controls. This position is crucial in proactively securing Samsung Ads products. You will be involved throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle, collaborating closely with product and software development teams to model threats, scan for vulnerabilities, identify necessary control points in the application stack, and conduct early software, systems, and network architecture penetration tests.
You will collaborate with exceptionally talented and passionate developers who possess a robust technical background to bring products and services to market, facing unique technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct application security assessments, outlining requirements, verifying remediation, threat modeling, and data migration.
- Assist engineering teams in developing security-first software and infrastructure.
- Perform threat analysis and security audits on software and infrastructure.
- Establish hardening configuration standards.
- Configure web application firewall policies to safeguard public web systems.
- Contribute to defining and enforcing security standards for Cloud Native applications, firewalls, AWS configurations, and more.
- Participate in security evaluations of service architectures and act as a Subject Matter Expert for engineering teams.
- Develop a platform to enable engineering and corporate teams to comprehend their vulnerabilities and risks and support their remediation efforts.
- Create policies and documentation for security best practices for new technologies and produce metrics and reports on the cloud security posture of our systems.
- Research emerging technologies and methodologies related to application security and identify how Samsung Ads can integrate them.
Required Skills and Experience
- A minimum of 4 years of experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields such as Statistics, Data Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with self-motivation and inspire team members.
- Capability to break down larger tasks into manageable segments, delegate responsibilities, and follow up effectively; ensuring tasks are completed as specified without micromanagement.
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and a passion for application security.
- Expertise in OWASP Web Top 10 and threat modeling using established frameworks such as STRIDE.
- Strong development skills and proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language, along with a solid understanding of AWS, Linux, and SIEM.
- Proficiency with penetration testing tools such as Burp Suite, Metasploit, or ZAP.
- Experience with static and dynamic application security testing tools and penetration testing methodologies.
- Experience in incident response and digital forensics, including data collection, examination, and analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to implement complex security controls and configurations for cloud-based software and networks.
- Experience in threat modeling and penetration testing.
- Familiarity with DevOps models/pipelines as they relate to security integration.
- Experience with SAST and DAST.
- Good understanding of security risk management principles.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication skills in English are essential.
- Fluency in Korean is a plus.
