Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled RN Educator to oversee educational needs, employee health, and orientation processes for our healthcare facility. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to maintain accurate records and provide regular updates on active projects and progress.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Staff Development: Design and implement staff development programs to meet regulatory mandates and improve staff performance.
- Educational Practices: Maintain and enhance educational practices through coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Professional Knowledge: Stay up-to-date with industry developments by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and networking with peers.
- Record Keeping: Accurately record and document educational activities, attendance, and responses.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates on active projects, reactions, and progress.
- QAPI Participation: Engage in QAPI monthly meetings and projects to ensure quality and continuous improvement.
- Staff Programs: Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing staff programs and services to ensure a well-educated staff.
- Records Maintenance: Maintain accurate records and assist in data collection for assessment and evaluation purposes.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with internal and external customers, including employees, management, and stakeholders.
- Employee Support: Provide support to employees on disability or workman's compensation, and their physicians to facilitate their earliest possible return to work.
- Incident Reporting: Review and coordinate education and loss prevention programs with our safety program in response to employee injuries.
- TB Screening: Conduct annual tuberculosis screening of volunteers and direct follow-up procedures as necessary.
- Vaccinations: Administer Hep B vaccines and Mantoux (TB skin tests) to contracted agencies and individuals as required.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience as a Nurse Educator in Long Term Care.
- Licensure: Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Background: Previous experience working in a long-term care setting.
- Skills: Demonstrated ability to creatively educate and coach.
- Certifications: CPR certification required, CPR trainer certified or willing to become a trainer.
- Training: Training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact, educate, coach, and communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals.
- Ethics: Highest ethical standards with respect to discretion and regard for confidentiality.
- Principles: Abiding commitment of basic ethical and legal principles.
- Knowledge: Possess knowledge of emergency preparedness, safety, fire, disaster, OSHA.
- Infection Control: Knowledgeable of infection control procedures.
- Record Keeping: Ability to handle required record keeping.
