Job Title: Database Administrator

Georgia IT Inc is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, security, and integrity of our databases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and administer AWS-based databases, including Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL Server, and MongoDB.
  • Monitor and tune database performance to maintain optimal efficiency and responsiveness.
  • Implement and oversee database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data protection and restoration.
  • Implement and enforce security measures, access controls, and encryption protocols to protect sensitive data.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades and patching, staying current with the latest releases and security fixes.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for databases, including failover and replication mechanisms.
  • Identify and resolve database-related issues, working closely with development teams and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with database migration efforts, ensuring smooth data transfer and minimal downtime.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Identify opportunities for automation in database administration tasks and develop scripts or tools to streamline repetitive processes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience as a Senior Database Administrator, managing diverse databases in an AWS cloud environment.
  • Expertise in administering Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL Server, and MongoDB databases.
  • Strong understanding of database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security best practices.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services, IAM roles, and security groups for database administration.
  • Experience with database migration tools and techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to address database-related issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
