Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will play a critical role in performing and teaching diagnostic procedures in the field of Nuclear Medicine.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals and operate highly technical instruments
  • Analyze acquired data and evaluate patient assessment
  • Identify patient, confirm date of birth, hospital number, and identification
  • Record route of administration, dose, and technologist's initials
  • Describe exam to patient, obtain informed consent, and complete necessary paperwork
  • Evaluate requisition, chart, and lab results
  • Perform advanced duties such as Positron Emission Technology (PET) imaging and/or lead technologist role
  • Handle radiopharmaceuticals, proper documentation, and disposal
  • Set up acquisition and perform according to protocol, maintaining patient comfort, care, and safety
  • Analyze images and evaluate for correctness
  • Process films and submit to physician for approval
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program
  • Registered as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or registry eligible and become registered within one (1) year from date of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
