Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Engine Technician to join our team at Cummins. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing and completing less complex repairs to engines at the customer's site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair engines at the customer's site
  • Engage customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Anticipate and ensure prompt and efficient attention to customer needs
  • Apply the use of specialized tools and follow documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete less complex repairs
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on engine and related components in the field
  • Escalate unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisor
  • Complete required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens
  • Identify additional service opportunities with customer
  • Complete training in line with skill and business requirements
  • Maintain service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to site management and to their supervisor

Requirements:

  • Intermediate Technician Level II: Some relevant technician experience; qualified to perform work on an intermediate number of products in-scope for a diesel technician at this location; primarily engaged in moderately complex maintenance and repair; some exposure to moderate or complex diagnostics, requires limited direct supervision, may provide basic training or guidance to new technicians
  • A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
  • Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older
  • A current valid license is required for this role
  • This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
  • This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
  • 3 years driving experience
  • This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
  • Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age
  • This role is subject to Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) drug testing pre-employment and random drug testing requirements. This role will be subject to on-going random drug testing.
