The Talent Acquisition Specialist is tasked with overseeing the complete recruitment process, effectively attracting and engaging ideal candidates to advance Liberty University's objectives. This role requires independent work, sound judgment, and collaboration with university leaders and key stakeholders to gain a thorough understanding of candidate talent needs and to formulate focused recruitment strategies. The position encompasses various responsibilities within the HR Partnerships and Service team, including aiding in the adoption of new recruiting technologies and collaborating to enhance the talent acquisition function. The ideal candidate should possess a strong commitment to service and demonstrate exceptional communication skills, along with a desire to thrive in a dynamic and evolving HR environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure an efficient recruitment cycle that promotes a positive experience for candidates and internal clients.
- Oversee full-cycle recruiting, which includes consultations with hiring teams, job promotion, candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, coordinating the selection and offer process, and facilitating onboarding.
- Collaborate with university leaders, hiring managers, and key stakeholders to develop a comprehensive understanding of talent requirements.
- Design and implement targeted job promotion and sourcing strategies, utilizing available resources to attract top-tier talent.
- Manage the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), which includes posting job openings, reviewing applications, closing postings, tracking candidates through the hiring process, and fulfilling other functional requirements.
- Support the interview process as needed, including participating in or conducting interviews using various reliable recruiting and selection methods.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating various HR and recruitment events, such as new employee orientation, career fairs, and recruitment training sessions.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local recruitment and employment laws, regulations, and university policies.
- Stay informed about emerging trends in higher education to guide recruitment strategies and recommend external recruiting technologies or resources as necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Work effectively as a team member, embracing and promoting Liberty University's mission.
Education and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of relevant experience in Human Resources or customer service.
- Strong technical skills with platforms like LinkedIn or similar.
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related discipline.
- Experience with Workday Recruiting.
- SHRM Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential.
Communication and Comprehension
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with effective negotiation tactics.
- Proactive and independent, with the ability to take initiative.
- Capability to devise and implement sourcing strategies for diverse roles.
- Public communication skills that effectively represent Liberty University to various stakeholders.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with or able to quickly learn applicant-tracking software or other recruitment systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Workday, or related software.
- Ability to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to resolve routine and complex issues.
- Required to travel to local and campus locations.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to handle materials, reach overhead, kneel, or stoop as necessary.
- Regularly lift 10 pounds or less.
Work Environment
The work environment typically involves a climate-controlled setting that is well-lit, with a moderate noise level.
Driving Requirements
Use of a personal vehicle (or university vehicles) may be necessary for travel in performing essential job functions. A valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and liability insurance are required.
