Pulmonary Diagnostics / Rehab Respiratory Therapist

This role is part of a collaborative team that works together to provide high-quality care to patients. As a Pulmonary Diagnostics / Rehab Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for performing pulmonary function tests, exercise testing, and other diagnostic procedures. You will also implement and monitor outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation exercise training and educational sessions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the accuracy of laboratory instrumentation by performing routine maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Perform pulmonary and exercise diagnostic procedures and assist physicians with special studies.
  • Ensure procedures are performed safely, consistently, and accurately in accordance with laboratory policy and procedure.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data for all tests performed.
  • Act as a technical resource and support person for physicians and other ordering healthcare professionals.
  • Supervise outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation exercise training and educational sessions.
  • Monitor patients during rehabilitation sessions, including vital signs and respiratory status.
  • Provide patient and family education, including home exercise and smoking cessation counseling.
  • Initiate emergency procedures according to policy.
  • Maintain knowledge of correct documentation and billing processes.
  • Participate in training and orientation of new employees.
  • Assist in maintaining supply inventory and performing equipment maintenance.
Credentials:
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Registered Pulmonary Function Technician (RPFT) within 1 year of hire
Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • Associate of Arts or Science degree
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a respiratory therapist
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree (preferred)
  • Experience in performing pulmonary function testing or pulmonary rehabilitation (preferred)
