Position Overview:
This is a tenure-track faculty position within the Department of Animal and Range Sciences. The role involves a balanced focus on academic instruction (45%), research and scholarship (45%), and service contributions (10%).

Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Develop and implement innovative teaching and research initiatives in rangeland ecology and management, with particular attention to riparian systems, prescribed and wildland fire, and grazing management.
- Conduct research that is pertinent to the state of Montana and enhances existing programs in research, teaching, and outreach at the university.
- Teach undergraduate courses covering topics such as Fire Ecology & Management, Riparian Ecology and Management, Wildlife & Livestock Habitat Restoration, and Grazing Ecology and Management.
- Engage actively in departmental activities, publish in respected peer-reviewed journals, secure external funding, mentor graduate students, and contribute to various service roles within the department, college, and university.
- Collaborate with faculty and researchers across the region to foster interdisciplinary research efforts.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant reporting requirements and uphold civil rights and affirmative action policies.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Ph.D. in Rangeland Ecology and Management or a closely related field (must be completed by the time of hire).
- A proven track record of research and publications in Natural Resources or Rangeland Ecology and Management.
- Demonstrated ability or potential to secure competitive funding.
- Effective teaching experience at the college or university level.
- Capability to mentor a diverse student population, including underrepresented groups.

Preferred:
- Research experience in riparian ecology, fire ecology, or grazing ecology.
- Proven ability to collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects.
- Skills in communicating research findings to non-specialist audiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, along with strong interpersonal skills.

Additional Information:
This position requires the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. The Department of Animal and Range Sciences comprises a diverse faculty focused on animal science and rangeland ecology.
