Job Title: Clinical Psychologist Adult Outpatient for Fort Belvoir

MDPerm is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital. As a Clinical Psychologist, you will provide comprehensive mental health services to active duty military personnel and their families.

About the Department

The Fort Belvoir Community Hospital Adult Outpatient Behavioral Health staff provides a wide range of mental health services, including individual and group therapy, crisis counseling, and behavioral health clinical care management. Our team is dedicated to providing compassionate and respectful care to our patients, and we are committed to bringing hope and healing to adults with mental illness.

Duties of the Clinical Psychologist
  • Conduct biopsychosocial evaluations and provide therapeutic interventions to individuals, groups, and families as needed.
  • Evaluate the impact of diagnosis or lack of diagnosis on individual and family systems, and assess the patient's functioning within work, family, and routines of daily living.
  • Support local and remote Soldier readiness Processing (SRP) events, providing behavioral health clinical care management services, screening, evaluation, and referrals for Service Members who report deployment-related symptoms.
  • Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team, developing and implementing comprehensive treatment care plans in accordance with behavioral health care standards.
  • Coordinate services for patients who move to another location, ensuring continuity of care and facilitating the transfer of cases to local behavioral health care case management resources.
  • Perform Mental Status Evaluations, Fitness for Duty Evaluations, Chapter Evaluations, and other clinical examinations requiring a DSM-5 diagnosis.
  • Coordinate and assist installation community agencies and the MTF in the referral process, providing re-integration training and services for Service Members returning from deployment.
  • Responsible for the completion of individual workload accountability in accordance with clinic, medical treatment facility, and program requirements.
  • Consult with and assist other contract service providers, military commanders, and community agencies in the development and implementation of deployment-related health programs at the installation and/or clinic level.
Qualifications of the Clinical Psychologist
  • Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program and completion of an APA-approved clinical psychology internship.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, renewed every two years.
  • Minimum of two years of experience within the past five years in the practice of clinical psychology, preferably in a Government setting such as a DoD or Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) MTF, providing clinical services to individuals, couples, or groups in clinical psychotherapy services.
  • Knowledge and experience with the military health system, combat/deployment issues, people suffering from medically unexplained symptoms, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and/or disasters are highly desired.
  • Proficiency in the administration and interpretation of basic psychological test measures, including Intelligence Testing, Personality Testing with Objective and Projective Testing, and basic neuropsychological screening techniques.
  • Current license to practice Clinical or Counseling Psychology in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the US Virgin Islands that allows for the independent practice of clinical services.
  • US Citizenship required for access to government computer systems.
Work Schedule
  • Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week.
  • 7:30am-4:30pm.
  • No Federal Holidays.
