Location: Danville, VA

This role at PATHS Inc focuses on welcoming and assisting patients during their visits, ensuring the efficient operation of the reception and registration areas. You will be integral in facilitating a seamless appointment and patient flow system within a healthcare team that adheres to evidence-based practices in a Patient-Centered Medical Home model.

  • Accurately gather and update patient demographic information, eligibility, and insurance details
  • Maintain and regularly update patient Sliding Fee Scale status
  • Input medical information into the electronic records system
  • Secure record release signatures from patients for external medical records
  • Clarify services, patient policies, and procedures
  • Guide patients on utilizing the patient portal
  • Process payments for services and clarify charges as necessary
  • Manage various payment methods
  • Ensure understanding of insurance policies and verifications
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and follow-up actions
  • Handle incoming phone calls and messages
  • Support the maintenance of an accurate appointment system
  • Assist with medication collection and scheduling follow-up appointments
  • Comply with HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient information
  • Perform additional duties as required
Qualifications:
  • Essential:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective problem-solving capabilities
  • Desirable:
  • Experience in a medical office setting and familiarity with medical terminology
  • Prior experience in a federally qualified health center (FQHC)
  • Knowledge of eClinicalWorks electronic health record (EHR) system
