Nurse Practitioner, Family Practice: FT, Days

A Certified Nurse Practitioner in Family Medicine is needed to provide healthcare services to patients in a family practice setting. The ideal candidate will have a Master's Level preparation and be certified in a relevant area. The Nurse Practitioner will work under the supervision of a physician and be responsible for obtaining pertinent historical information, performing focused or detailed examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing treatment plans for patients. The Nurse Practitioner will also be able to prescribe medication and provide therapeutic procedures such as immunizations, phlebotomy, and wound care.
Responsibilities:
Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests.
Examine patients to obtain information about their physical condition.
Instruct and counsel patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
Interpret diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
Make diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of patients.
Obtain, compile and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination.
Order and inventory medical and laboratory supplies and equipment.
Perform injections for both analgesic and therapeutic purposes.
Perform minor surgical procedures in an office setting, such as superficial lesion or foreign body removal, punch or excision biopsies.
Provide physicians with assistance during surgery or complicated medical procedures.
Supervise and coordinate activities of nurses and medical assistants.
Requirements:
Master's Level preparation in a relevant area.
Current Nurse Practitioner license in good standing.
Minimum of two years prior experience preferred.
Strong leadership, teamwork, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to understand and effectively communicate in both written and oral form.
Ability to read and write small letters and numbers and perform complex arithmetic and financial applications.
Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of Medical Center emergency codes.
