Job Summary

This position requires a high level of understanding of how plastic injection molds function and operate. The ideal candidate will have the ability to repair and maintain tooling and fixtures for production and product development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Finish Work on Plastic Injection Molds: The successful candidate will be responsible for performing finish work on plastic injection molds, ensuring they are accurate and meet the required specifications.
  • Fitting and Assembling Standard Parts: The candidate will fit and assemble standard parts into assemblies or mechanisms, using hand tools, to ensure a high level of precision and accuracy.
  • Diagnosing and Repairing Molds: The successful candidate will diagnose, isolate malfunctions, and perform simple repairs to molds and small tooling associated with those molds.
  • Manufacturing New Mold Components: The candidate will manufacture new mold components for mold repairs, ensuring they meet the required specifications.
  • Examining and Modifying Molds: The successful candidate will examine and modify molds as required, ensuring they meet the required specifications.
  • Maintaining a Safe and Clean Workspace: The candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organized workspace, adhering to all safety procedures and regulations.
  • Operating Tool Room Machinery: The successful candidate will operate all tool room machinery and equipment, ensuring they are used safely and efficiently.
  • Tracking Tooling Project Times: The candidate will track times required to complete assigned tooling projects, ensuring accurate records are kept.
  • Performing Other Duties: The successful candidate will perform other duties as assigned by management, ensuring the smooth operation of the tooling and production teams.
Requirements
  • Expert Experience with Building Plastic Injection Molds: The ideal candidate will have expert experience with building plastic injection molds, ensuring they meet the required specifications.
  • Interpreting Complicated Prints: The candidate will be able to quickly and proficiently interpret and use complicated prints (including multiple views and 3-dimensional details), specifications, sketches, charts, and tables.
  • High Level of Motivation and Efficiency: The successful candidate will have a high level of motivation and efficiency, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Strong Attention to Detail and Problem-Solving Skills: The candidate will have strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, ensuring molds are accurate and meet the required specifications.
  • Ability to Communicate Across Teams: The successful candidate will be able to communicate across the tooling and production teams regarding the molds, ensuring clear and accurate information is shared.
  • Advanced Knowledge of Tooling Components: The candidate will have advanced knowledge in the use of tooling components, tool setter, gage blocks, micrometers, indicators, and other measuring tools.
  • Advanced Knowledge of Operating Manual Machine Equipment: The successful candidate will have advanced knowledge of operating manual machine equipment, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Ability to Work Independently: The candidate will be able to work independently as well as in a team atmosphere with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to Lift Heavy Objects: The successful candidate will have the ability to lift heavy objects, ensuring they can perform tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to Stand for Extended Periods: The candidate will be able to stand for extended periods of time and perform repetitious movements, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Ability to Fit and Assemble Parts: The successful candidate will have the ability to fit and assemble or disassemble parts using hand tools, ensuring a high level of precision and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Shop Mathematics: The candidate will be proficient in shop mathematics and understand geometry and trigonometry, ensuring accurate calculations are made.
  • Proficient in Computer Operations: The successful candidate will be proficient in most basic computer file and folder operations, email, Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access), ensuring accurate and efficient use of technology.
  • Knowledge of CAMWorks and SolidWorks: The candidate will have knowledge of CAMWorks and SolidWorks, ensuring accurate and efficient use of software.
  • Familiarity with CNC Machines: The successful candidate will have familiarity with Fadal, OKK, Micron CNC's and Agie Charmilles EDM's, ensuring accurate and efficient use of equipment.
