About Our Organization

Lancaster Leaf Tobacco Company operates as a prominent entity within the global leaf tobacco industry, managing a comprehensive range of dark air-cured tobacco operations. Our facilities encompass processing, storage, and administrative functions, contributing significantly to the supply chain for major cigar manufacturers both domestically and internationally.

Role Summary

The Accountant will be responsible for the meticulous preparation and maintenance of financial documentation, enabling the organization to effectively monitor its assets, liabilities, income, tax obligations, and other financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record daily financial transactions
  • Conduct account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts
  • Generate quarterly financial reports related to tobacco inventory and insurance
  • Prepare sales and use tax submissions for multiple states
  • Process and record expense reimbursements
  • Support payroll processing as needed
  • Oversee the setup and approval of electronic payments and vendor transactions
  • Manage the company credit card program
  • Assist with domestic farmer scheduling, contracts, and payment processing
  • Facilitate audits by compiling necessary documentation for internal and external auditors
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts
  • Reconcile intercompany loan accounts
  • File annual tax forms as required
  • Support the Controller with tax-related information for the parent company
  • Prepare annual 1099 forms
  • Assist with production batch processing as required

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline
  • A minimum of two years of experience in accounting or finance
  • Fundamental knowledge of accounting principles and experience with general ledger
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX software
