Key Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Pediatric/PICU Nurse Director and Child Life Coordinator, provide support to infants, children, adolescents, and families through evidence-based practices such as therapeutic play, preparation, and education aimed at reducing fear, anxiety, and discomfort.

Required Certifications:
  • Successful completion of the Child Life Professional Certification Examination.
  • Current CPR Certification.
Physical Demands:
  • Regular standing, walking, lifting, and transporting supplies.
  • Moderate physical activity required.
  • Essential communication and auditory skills.
  • Accurate hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills are crucial.
  • Close visual acuity is necessary for managing records.
Essential Skills and Competencies:
  • Assess and prioritize the psychosocial needs of each patient.
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding conditions, treatments, and coping strategies.
  • Encourage family-centered care by involving parents and relatives.
  • Mentor child life students and supervise volunteers.
