Position Overview
Our Washington, DC office is seeking a Staff Auditor to assist the engagement team with a diverse range of clients. This role will require travel to client locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Aid in the preparation for audit fieldwork by gathering client document requests and participating in engagement team planning meetings.
- Conduct standard audit testing in areas such as cash, investments, inventory, fixed assets, accounts payable, accrued expenses, lease obligations, expense testing, and control testing of cash receipts, disbursements, and payroll.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including the statement of cash flows and, when necessary, the schedule of federal expenditures and OMB reports.
- Support the Senior Auditor in drafting routine correspondence, financial statement footnotes, and management letters.
- Collaborate with the Senior Auditor post-fieldwork to address any outstanding client needs and perform roll-forward procedures.
- Maintain open communication throughout the engagement with the Senior Auditor regarding budget versus actual time statuses and any changes in time requirements.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA or CPA Candidate status.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- A solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
