Quality and General Management
  • Ensure all departmental protocols, procedures, practices, and systems are effectively implemented to meet the needs of residents and patients.
  • Foster a constructive professional relationship with residents, their families, team members, professional organizations, community groups, and other relevant entities.
  • Monitor resident, family, and employee satisfaction through regular communication, consistent rounds within the Care Community, and the utilization of satisfaction surveys, response analyses, and performance plans to enhance services continually. Proactively identify concerns and address complaints promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain quality services throughout the community for residents at the standards established by the Board of Directors (if applicable) and consistent with HDG standards, expectations, and policies.
  • Lead initiatives that uphold strong performance standards and create a working environment that promotes the professional growth of all leadership team members.
  • Engage and cultivate positive relationships with residents through regular individual and group interactions, attending and often leading resident meetings and events.
  • Meet regularly with the HDG Regional Director of Operations to report on operational issues, trends, barriers, and resolutions. Participate in weekly operations leadership calls and quarterly business review meetings.
  • Actively manage Care Community assets, including inventory, building and grounds maintenance, and accounts receivable.
  • Represent HDG in a professional manner consistent with the organization's values and code of conduct.
  • Manage and direct corrective actions as necessary to align performance, quality, or budget variances with expectations.
  • Enforce reporting and Corporate Compliance Hotline initiatives and report all potential hazards, litigation, or unusual events to determine appropriate actions or preventative measures.
Financial Management
  • Contribute to the preparation of the Care Community's annual operating budget and manage programs and strategies to ensure budget compliance.
  • Ensure monthly and annual financial and net income targets are achieved.
  • Manage census and revenue development, including:
    • Total occupancy, including bed management and admissions processes.
    • Medicare and managed care occupancy.
    • Rehabilitation systems management.
    • Activities of Daily Living (ADL) systems management.
    • Managed Care system management.
  • Demonstrate effective expense management, ensuring:
    • Labor hours remain within budget parameters.
    • Overall expenses are at or below budget.
    • Expense variances are addressed immediately.
    • Minimum and sufficient staffing hours are maintained.
  • Implement and monitor financial and operational policies.
  • Present financial and operational reports as required by HDG and various governmental agencies.
Clinical and Regulatory Management
  • Lead the Quality Assurance Process Improvement team using data and Quality Improvement tools to enhance the quality of care and services provided.
  • Ensure deficiencies are at or below state benchmarks and that no substandard deficiencies exist.
  • Provide timely reporting of critical events to HDG's RDO, the Clinical Nurse Consultant, and regulatory agencies, including all allegations of abuse, neglect, and misappropriation.
  • Achieve clearance of all surveys on the first revisit.
  • Maintain licensure and certification of the Care Community; ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; maintain administrator's license.
  • Stay informed and ensure compliance with applicable licensing requirements, laws, and regulations.
  • Develop positive rapport with representatives of governmental agencies.
  • Promote and maintain working relationships with various community health delivery centers to consistently promote and sell the Care Community's capabilities and identify new market opportunities.
  • Remove barriers and support the Care Community leadership team to foster continuous learning and development.
  • Ensure accessibility of the Executive Director to the Care Community's residents and families.
  • Maintain awareness of Medicare prospective payment issues that influence community operations.
  • Direct collaboration necessary for accurate reporting on a routine basis, including collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Consultant to ensure current and future standards exceed benchmarks.
  • Demonstrate and support patient-centered initiatives throughout the Care Community to uphold a history of clinical excellence through empowered and engaged leaders and team members.
  • Ensure all corporate compliance programs and HIPAA directives are implemented and monitored.
  • Drive and maintain accountability to ensure Care Community census goals are met by analyzing variances, trends, and delivering on those measures.
  • Partner with the Clinical Nurse Consultant to ensure audits and survey preparations are completed timely.
Human Resources Management
  • Oversee human resources recruiting, staffing, and retention action plans.
  • Monitor employee turnover and create action plans to address issues if necessary.
  • Oversee labor management relations (if required).
  • Monitor employee satisfaction and engagement through surveys, performance evaluations, and employee feedback; ensure a focus on engagement within the community from all leaders and managers.
  • Ensure performance management is addressed continuously.
  • Oversee workers' compensation and lead safety operations. Support programs to adhere to all OSHA, workers' compensation, and risk avoidance in collaboration with the Director of Safety and Risk Management and local safety committees.
  • Oversee employee benefits, retirement plans, and monthly reconciliation of plans.
  • Manage payroll processes and procedures, including signing off on bi-weekly payroll.
Marketing
  • Drive and maintain accountability to ensure Care Community census goals are met by analyzing variances, trends, and delivering on those measures.
  • Regularly engage in the sales strategy for the Care Community.
  • Ensure HDG admissions practices are in place and adhered to.
  • Maintain involvement in the community as a healthcare leader.
  • Assess the local market to identify competitive strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
  • In collaboration with the Regional Director of Operations, ensure the sales team has clear expectations, monitor, and maintain accountability to support day-to-day marketing activities and programs to meet budgeted monthly and annual sales goals.
  • Support an annual marketing plan to determine annual sales goals, in collaboration with the RDO and admissions team.
  • Direct and coordinate the development of the community's advertising plan in collaboration with the RDO and admissions team.
  • Support and implement the Care Community's residency and miscellaneous marketing agreements, marketing policies, pricing, and sales discounts, with the support of the RDO and admissions team.
  • Manage and hold the local marketing team accountable for both annual performance goals and overall census goals for the Care Community.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local reform laws.
