Job Summary

The Contract Officer position is a critical role within the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) at Intermountain Healthcare. The OSP is responsible for overseeing and facilitating sponsored projects on behalf of the organization. As a Contract Officer, you will play a key role in managing industry contracts, grant agreements, sub-agreements, and other related agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other documents related to sponsored projects.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including research teams, legal counsel, and accounting, to ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulatory standards.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on research proposals, awards, and administrative processes.
  • Coordinate budget preparation and design with investigators for grant, contract, and subcontract applications.
  • Review proposals for completeness and assist with adherence to required institutional documentation and deadlines.
  • Analyze proposals, awards, and agreements for compliance and consistency with federal and state laws and regulations, institutional policies, research compliance restrictions, and guidelines.
  • Monitor project spending to ensure funds received are expended according to federal, state, and Intermountain Healthcare policy.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with sponsoring entities for proposals, awards, cooperative agreements, and subcontracts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years relevant research administration and grants management experience in a research setting.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
  • Solid judgment and capacity to exercise discretion to resolve ambiguity and promote effective solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clinical trial agreement experience.
  • Master's Degree.
  • 3 or more years of relevant research administration and contract management experience.
  • Experience with contract negotiation, industry clinical trial agreements, subaward agreements, sub-award monitoring, or post-award non-financial monitoring.
  • Experience with the use of Grants.gov, NSF Fastlane, NIH eRA Commons, or ASSIST.
