Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Technology Teacher (K-8) to join our team at St. Matthew Catholic School, a part of the Diocese of St. Augustine. As a Technology Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting the Diocese's mission to educate, evangelize, and catechize youth in a Catholic school environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Catholic Mission: Recognize and support the unique Catholic mission of the school by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • Collaborate with the Principal: Work collaboratively with the principal to build the faith community, giving evidence of the lived Gospel values by personal example and by being an active member of a faith community.
  • Maintain Security and Confidentiality: Maintain physical and informational security at all times, respecting confidentiality and privacy.
  • Work Collaboratively: Work collaboratively in a positive, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Adhere to Diocesan and School Policies: Adhere to all diocesan and school policies and regulations, while supporting the school's spiritual, pastoral, and educational mission.
  • Plan and Implement Lessons: Demonstrate effective planning skills by preparing lesson plans designed to implement and achieve academic goals and objectives, as adopted by the school.
  • Integrate Catholic Religious Curriculum: Integrate Catholic religious curriculum, as articulated by the school.
  • Build the Faith Community: Build the school's faith community by a demonstrated willingness to participate and help plan school religious and service-related activities.
  • Communicate Effectively: Demonstrate and effectively communicate knowledge and competency of academic and religious curriculum; ability to organize learning materials to maximize time, as well as engage and motivate students.
  • Establish Classroom Management: Establish a consistent classroom management approach that promotes self-direction and a positive self-image. Sets high standards for student behavior and manages inappropriate behavior effectively, in accordance with school policy.
  • Participate in Professional Development: Participate in continuous professional development as a lifelong learner.
Requirements
  • Practicing Catholic: Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and registered member of a Catholic parish faith community is preferred.
  • Education and Certification: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and must maintain Professional Educator certification in the State of Florida.
  • Diocesan Ministry Certification: Must have or be able to obtain within two years Basic Diocesan Ministry Certification.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, employees, and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
