Job Summary

The Faculty Development Instructional Designer plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) at Santa Fe College. This position is responsible for collaborating with faculty and staff to design and facilitate professional development initiatives, building community, designing workshops, and supporting collaborative, collegewide projects that enhance teaching practices and promote student engagement and success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify needs and design tailored professional development workshops and training sessions.
  • Provide pedagogical guidance to the CTLE Faculty Fellows and other related individuals.
  • Design and facilitate workshops, discussion groups, and communities of practice that foster collaboration and share best practices.
  • Liaise with internal constituencies to build and strengthen a supportive educational community focused on inclusive teaching practices.
  • Contribute to the creation and preparation of materials for ongoing professional development programs, such as the Summer Institute and New Faculty Academy, in collaboration with the Director.
  • Promote and support participation in collegewide conversations and initiatives aimed at enhancing teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate and consult with faculty to develop and refine instructional materials and resources that align with the Center's goal and the College's mission.
  • Assist faculty with the selection of effective instructional strategies and the articulation of measurable course and lesson learning outcomes.
  • Support the development and implementation of community-building activities that encourage faculty engagement and collaboration.
  • Provide professional and supportive assistance to faculty and staff in their professional growth and development.
  • Act as an advocate for teaching and learning by staying abreast of relevant trends and researching best practices.
  • Assist in raising awareness of the exemplary work and innovative practices occurring collegewide.
  • Manage special projects related to faculty development and community engagement.
  • Design and maintain CTLE web presence and Canvas sites and routinely ensure online educational resources are accessible, updated, and functional.
  • Comply with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
  • Strictly honor the privacy, security, and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, or a related field or a bachelor's degree with courses related to instructional design with two (2) years of related work experience and/or a combination of education and experience equal to six (6) years. A master's degree in a related field, experience in higher education, and prior experience in professional development, workshop design, or community building are preferred.
