Position Overview:

We are seeking a Shipping Manager to lead our shipping team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of finished products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish safety protocols and work procedures; develop work schedules and streamline workflow.
  • Assess work for precision, organization, and adherence to company policies.
  • Analyze pipe orders to optimize truckload capacity and determine if additional fills are necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager and Customer Service Representatives to align product requirements.
  • Create daily shipping schedules and freight rate assessments for carriers, ensuring all loads are accounted for.
  • Generate invoices for all shipments and prepare shipping documents, including Bills of Lading and Packing Lists.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience and/or training in the field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong safety awareness, time management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience in shipping and material handling, with a solid understanding of shipping and receiving principles, practices, and software.
Expected Outcomes:
  • Within 3 months: Complete the Atkore immersion program and understand how your role contributes to Atkore's strategic goals.
  • Within 6 months: Update training materials and collaborate with Safety and HR to address workplace incidents and enhance team commitment to Atkore's core values.
  • Within 12 months: Effectively manage a high-performing team that aligns with Atkore's strategic objectives, producing relevant reports and documentation while fostering meaningful performance discussions.
