Overview:
As a vital member of our team, the Healthcare Access Coordinator will play a crucial role in facilitating patient interactions and ensuring a seamless registration process. This position serves as the primary point of contact for patients, enhancing their experience through effective communication and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and their families, gathering and verifying essential demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance details to ensure smooth registration.
- Authenticate and register patients for services, managing the complete registration process for those who have not previously registered.
- Process signed physician orders and maintain an organized work queue.
- Conduct insurance eligibility checks and financial education for designated accounts.
- Calculate and communicate estimated patient liabilities, collecting necessary payments at the time of service.
- Refer cases to financial counseling as needed and assist with additional duties such as cashiering and communications.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of patient access processes and support team initiatives.
- Foster positive relationships with colleagues to ensure effective communication and compliance with team responsibilities.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and company policies to uphold ethical and professional standards.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent experience, with at least one year of relevant experience in a healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of patient access processes, insurance terminology, and excellent communication skills are essential.
Skills:
Successful candidates will demonstrate proficiency in managing multiple tasks, attention to detail, and the ability to work with confidential information. Computer skills and the capacity to adapt to new processes are also required.
