About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Manager for Broadband Initiatives to join our team at the State of Nebraska. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of broadband initiatives across the state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with management to advise on accounting processes, procedures, and systems, with a focus on prevention, troubleshooting, and improvement.
  • Monitor budgets and provide reports to management, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
  • Process reimbursement requests, invoices, and other documents, maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Assist with preparation for audits and audit responses, ensuring seamless financial operations.
  • Interpret federal and state laws and regulations to ensure compliance and efficient operation.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding accounting procedures and policies.
  • Assist with monitoring of subgrants, ensuring effective management of funds.
  • Work with internal and external partners to support development and maintenance of productive relationships.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Associate degree in accounting, finance, business administration, statistics, or a related field, or two years of experience with professional accounting procedures.
  • Experience with accounting/financial management systems, including developing and modifying systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with federal grants accounting.
