Job Summary

This position is responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive training programs for diesel equipment technicians in alignment with the company's technician career development plan. The successful candidate will facilitate in-house and client training courses, maintain and develop training materials, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety and Security
    • Ensure a safe working environment for all employees, vendors, and clients by adhering to company safety policies and procedures.
    • Maintain a clean and clutter-free workspace to prevent accidents and injuries.
    • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as identified in safety policy.
  • Classroom Instruction and Curriculum
    • Deliver training programs to diesel equipment technicians on Caterpillar systems and products, including engines, powertrains, electrical, hydraulics, and HVAC.
    • Develop and maintain training curriculum for the Technician Career Development Plan (TCDP) for all levels of technicians, in alignment with business strategy objectives.
    • Perform Learning Management System (LMS) duties, including creating and scheduling classes, managing rosters, and closing classes.
    • Understand and deliver Caterpillar software training, including STW, SIS, ET, TMI, Service Report Writing, and Warranty Reports.
    • Travel to regional training locations to deliver training programs.
    • Deliver a minimum of two weeks of training per month.
    • Perform employee development through 30, 60, and/or 90-day follow-up training sessions.
    • Create and maintain training aids and technical labs.
    • Obtain and maintain Caterpillar instructor qualifications, as needed.
    • Adhere to customer care standards and promote a positive company image.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of individuals and personalities.
    • Competent and familiar with Caterpillar equipment and systems.
    • Strong technical knowledge of Caterpillar software programs and Microsoft programs.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information effectively to groups.
    • Ability to utilize various learning management systems for development and delivery of training curriculum.
    • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technologies and dynamic training curriculums.
    • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
    • Ability to travel out-of-town and overnight as needed.
  • Education and Experience
    • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
    • One-year experience as a Caterpillar dealership technician with progressive job responsibilities and knowledge preferred.
    • Experience working with entry-level to advanced-level technicians to develop skills as a mentor or leadership role in an unofficial or official capacity required.
    • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
    • Ability to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
  • Physical Characteristics
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk, sit, climb stairs, reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, lean, and twist.
    • Exposure to extreme temperatures and environments.
    • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. in accordance with company lifting policy.
