In response, we are taking decisive action to combat climate change and habitat degradation, fostering healthier ecosystems and revitalizing biodiversity through direct conservation efforts, community partnerships, and policy advocacy.
Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Chief Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) Officer, the Senior Vice President of EDIB will play a pivotal role in fostering a collaborative environment that integrates our core values of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and cultural competence across all organizational functions. This leadership position will be instrumental in shaping the strategic vision for the EDIB team and ensuring operational support for all affinity groups and committees.
The Senior Vice President will lead initiatives aimed at enhancing community partnerships and improving access to culturally competent services throughout the National Audubon Society.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance employee resource groups and create an EDIB data dashboard.
- Manage sensitive information with discretion and uphold confidentiality.
- Oversee the administrative and training requirements for all affinity groups and EDIB committees.
- Monitor and evaluate team performance through actionable plans and annual scorecards.
- Foster positive relationships within the organization and with executive sponsors of affinity groups.
- Facilitate team meetings, ensuring objectives are met and sensitive issues are escalated appropriately.
- Coordinate activities across all affinity groups and EDIB committees.
- Act decisively and efficiently in high-pressure situations.
- Provide updates on the status of all affinity groups and committees.
- Collaborate with the Communications Team to produce content for internal and external communications.
- Plan and execute events, managing logistics and budgets effectively.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to leaders at all levels, promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace.
- Challenge existing processes to foster an environment where all individuals feel valued and empowered.
- Establish accountability systems for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives.
- Engage with community partners to enhance diversity and inclusion efforts.
- Provide ongoing educational opportunities related to diversity and inclusion.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in senior management roles.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- Extensive experience in equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to navigate complex organizational structures and influence stakeholders.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build coalitions.
- Experience managing diverse projects to successful completion.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with public speaking experience.
- Willingness to travel as required.
