Youth Mentor

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part-Time Youth Mentor to join our team at CJR. As a Youth Mentor, you will play a vital role in the direct supervision of adolescent boys in a short-term transitional living program.

The Youth Mentor is responsible for creating a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment that supports the social, emotional, and academic development of each participant. You will be a positive role model, offering support, strength-based encouragement, and protection of youth in your care.

• Ensure the physical safety of youth and provide crisis intervention
• Conduct routine counts to ensure clients are present and safe
• Maintain a professional relationship with youth, adhering to proper physical boundaries
• Plan and lead organized daily activities and facilitate groups
• Conduct therapeutic programming, including Restorative Justice Practices and DBT-Lite
• Interpret program to youth and family
• Complete all written reports as assigned
• Be aware and ensure the safety of youth with special needs, physical or emotional
• Provide transportation to clients and families as needed
• Maintain Administration of Medication Certification
• Reinforce and role model youth's individual needs plan
• Attend regular and consistent attendance

We offer a part-time schedule with 3 days per week, 4-hour shifts, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 8:00am-12:00pm. You can also accept per diem hours as they become available. Overtime/time and a half eligible. Rate of pay is $19.23 per hour.

• High school diploma/GED and experience working with at-risk or court-involved youth - Required
• Must have a valid driver's license - Required
• Professional written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
