Job Title: Part-Time Youth Mentor

At CJR, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Youth Mentor to join our team. As a Youth Mentor, you will play a vital role in the direct supervision of adolescent boys in our short-term transitional living program.

About the Job:

The Youth Mentor is responsible for creating a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment that supports the social, emotional, and academic development of each participant. You will be a positive role model, offering support, strength-based encouragement, and protection of youth in your care.

  • Ensure the physical safety of youth and provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Conduct routine counts to ensure clients are present and safe.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with youth, adhering to proper physical boundaries.
  • Plan and lead organized daily activities and facilitate groups.
  • Conduct therapeutic programming, including Restorative Justice Practices and DBT-Lite.
  • Interpret program details to youth and family members.
  • Complete all assigned written reports.
  • Be aware of and ensure the safety of youth with special needs, physical or emotional.
  • Provide transportation to clients and families as needed.
  • Maintain Administration of Medication Certification.
  • Reinforce and role model youth's individual needs plan.
  • Attend regular and consistent attendance.
Work Schedule and Rate of Pay:

We offer a part-time schedule with 3 days per week, 4-hour shifts, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8:00am-12:00pm. You can also accept per diem hours as they become available. Overtime and time-and-a-half eligible. The rate of pay is $19.23 per hour.

Qualifications/Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or GED and experience working with at-risk or court-involved youth.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
